India’s Independence Day celebrations in Dili
The Embassy of India in Dili celebrated the 79th Independence Day with a solemn ceremony attended by a large gathering of the Indian community. Ambassador Shri Madan Kumar Ghildiyal hoisted the Tricolor, followed by the rendition of the national anthem.
In his opening remarks, the Ambassador welcomed the participants and spoke about the significance of this momentous day. He also highlighted key points from the President’s address to the nation on the eve of Independence Day. The President’s address to the nation was screened to facilitate clearer communication and better understanding among the audience which was much appreciated.
The celebration featured a vibrant cultural program showcasing soulful renditions of patriotic songs and energetic dances performed by community members. The Ambassador took the opportunity to felicitate the participants, acknowledging their contributions to the event and the spirit of India.
This year’s celebration was particularly special as it marked the first Independence Day observed since the establishment of the Indian Embassy in Dili. The event successfully brought together the Indian diaspora, comprising Indian nationals working for the United Nations, international organizations, businessmen, students, and faculty members, reinforcing their shared heritage and commitment to India's values.
