Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)
Applicant is advised to apply for issue of PCC well ahead of time as issue of PCC would only be done after due police verification. To apply for a PCC, you need to submit the following documents:
- Duly filled and printed online application form (https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in) with two ink signatures (first page below the photo and last page in signature box). Please mention the correct Indian address for police verification purpose.
- Two square shape color photos, size 2 inch x 2 inch(51 mm X 51 mm). for more information, please see: [ICAO]
- Self-attested copies of first and last page of your current passport
- Self-attested copies of your residence permit (both sides)
- If your address is different from that of your passport, you are required to submit self-attested additional document as proof of residence in India.
New/Re-issue of passports for Adults
A new passport can be issued on the expiry, or up to one year before expiry, of any passport, which had an initial validity of 10 years. To apply for a new passport, you need to submit the following:
- Duly filled and printed online application form https://mportal.passportindia.gov.in/mission/ with two ink signatures(first page below the photo and last page in signature box. Kindly mention proper Indian address in application form for purpose of Police verification (two addresses are required in the application form, one address should be from India and other/current address in Foreign country).
- Photograph, to be uploaded and submitted, should be as per as per ICAO standards strictly from 01 September, 2025 . For more information please see: [ICAO]
- current passport (Mandatory)
- Self-attested copies of first and last page of your current passport
- Self-attested copies of your residence permit (both sides)
- In case of your appearance/outlook/face has changed significantly since your last passport was made, please fill the Change of Appearance form additionally from the given link. [Affidavit]

NB! If any of your personal details have changed since the issuing of your current passport (i.e. change of name, change of printable address in passport in India or abroad, update of marital status), you will need to submit additional documents.
Additional documents required for change of printable INDIAN address in passport:
- proof of the new address such as copy of your voting card/Aadhaar card/driving license/electricity bill, bank statement, rent agreement etc.
Additional documents required for change of printable FOREIGN address in passport:
- proof of the new address such as copy of electricity bill, telephone bill, bank statement, rent agreement etc.
Additional documents required in case of change in Name:
Documents required from India
(This would not be applicable for temporary residents and visitors from India or third countries)
- Clippings of two local newspapers or the Gazette notification of the concerned State Government, as the case may be; and
- At least two public/school documents issued in the desired name to ascertain that the applicant has actually changed his name.
ATTESTATION OF DOCUMENTS / AFFIDAVITS
For attestation related to Affidavits/any document, the applicant needs to appear in person for submitting his/her application. In case of joint affidavits, all the deponents need to present themselves before the consular officer of this Mission. If there is a provision for signature by witnesses in the Affidavits/Power of Attorney, the witnesses need to appear in person along with their ID cards/Passport.
Documents required: Completed Miscellaneous Services Form+ Affidavit/ Document required to be attested (in duplicate) + Passport (original + photocopy) + 2 colour photos (51 mm x 51 mm).
ATTESTATION OF POWER OF ATTORNEY
For attestation related to Power of Attorney, the applicant shall appear in person for submitting his/her application. In case of Joint Power of Attorney, all the deponents shall present themselves before the consular officer of this Mission. If there is a provision for signature by witnesses in the Power of Attorney, the witnesses need to appear in person along with their ID cards/Passport.
Documents required: Completed Miscellaneous Services Form + Power of Attorney/Document required to be attested (in duplicate) + Passport (original + photocopy) + 2 colour Photos (51 mm x 51 mm).If the applicant does not hold Indian Passport/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card/PIO Card, the Power of Attorney needs to be first attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Government of Democratic Republic of Timor Leste.
NRI CERTIFICATE:
Following documents are required for NRI Certificate:
- Miscellaneous Services Form
- Passport (Original +Photocopy)
- Valid visa/Residence permit
- 3 Photographs
DEATH REGISTRATION:
Death of an Indian national should be registered with the Embassy of India by the next of kin/ relatives/ family members of the deceased by submitting the death certificate and last held Indian passport of the deceased.
Requirements:
- Death Registration Form (if the deceased was Indian national) duly filled in and signed by the applicant.
- Valid Indian passport in original and copies of first two and last two pages of the passport and the page (s) containing passport officer’s observation (s)(if any).
- Death Certificate, clearly mentioning the cause of death, issued by the relevant local authority in original and its photocopy.
- Burial Permit in original and photocopy.
- Police Report/Extract, in case of accident at work place.
- Post-Mortem Report, in case of accident (unnatural death).
- Letter from the company/sponsor mentioning the details of the compensation and the insurance amount being provided to the family of the deceased by the employer.
For taking body to India, additional, requirements are:
Valid Air-ticket for transportation of mortal remains
- Information about next of Kin
- Authorization letter (Power of Attorney) from the next of kin of the deceased regarding the person who will receive the mortal remains in India or information about the individual who shall escort the mortal remains to India.
- Please note that
- If the cause of death is mentioned as Cardio-respiratory arrest or natural death or pending or to be ascertained after post-mortem, or
- If it is not possible to clearly mention that exact cause of death because of some unavoidable reasons,
Then in all such situations as mentioned in above two points, the health department of the concerned country may issue a certificate stating – “the person has not died because of infectious/communicable/notifiable disease”
